Hired & non-owned auto coverage (HNOA)

Published 2026-06-12 · by Brokly

In plain terms: Covers your business's liability when employees drive rented or personal vehicles for work — vehicles the business uses but doesn't own.

Why it matters to you

When an employee runs a work errand in their own car and causes a crash, the injured party can come after the business. The employee's personal policy wasn't built for that — HNOA is.

Where you’ll see it

Often added to a general liability policy or a BOP rather than bought alone; contracts sometimes require it by the HNOA initials.
