Named insured

In plain terms: The person or business the policy actually belongs to — listed by name on the policy, with all the rights and protection the policy provides.

Why it matters to you

Coverage follows the named insured exactly. If your business changed its legal name, formed an LLC, or opened a second business under a new name, a policy naming only the old entity may not cover the new one — getting the name right is often the cheapest coverage fix there is.

Where you’ll see it

The first line of the policy's declarations page, and the top of every certificate of insurance.
